A Prayer

Lord, are you trying to tell me something?

For:

Failure doesn’t mean I’m a failure.
It does mean I haven’t yet succeeded.

Failure doesn’t mean I have accomplished nothing.
It does mean I have learned something.

Failure doesn’t mean I have been a fool.
It does mean I had enough faith to experiment.

Failure doesn’t mean I’ve been disgraced.
It does mean I dared to try.

Failure doesn’t mean I don’t have it.
It does mean I have to do something in a different way.

Failure doesn’t mean I am inferior.
It does mean I am not perfect.

Failure doesn’t mean I’ve wasted my life.
It does mean I have an excuse to start over again.

Failure doesn’t mean I should give up.
It does mean I must try harder.

Failure doesn’t mean I’ll never make it.
It does mean I need more patience.

Failure doesn’t mean you have abandoned me.
It does mean you must have a better idea!

Amen.

A Prayer

Almighty God, Lord of angels and all creation, Who dwell on high yet care for the lowly, Who search the heart and know every hidden thing, eternal and unchanging Light, we trust in Your great mercy to hear the prayers offered from our unclean lips.

Forgive the sins we have committed in knowledge or in ignorance, in thought, word, or deed; and cleanse us, body and soul, from every stain. Allow us to pass through the darkness of this present life watchful and alert, always expecting the coming bright day of Your Only-begotten Son, our Lord, God, and Savior, Jesus Christ. He shall come in glory to judge all people and reward us according to our deeds.

Help us to put away laziness, be full of courage, and be found doing His work ready to enter His glorious kingdom with joy. You are the true light of every creature, and to You all creation sings.

Amen.

A Prayer

Lord, teach me the art of patience whilst I am well, and give me the use of it when I am sick. In that day either lighten my burden or strengthen my back. Make me, who so often in my health have discovered my weakness presuming on my own strength, to be strong in my sickness when I solely rely on thy assistance.

A Prayer

Bless those who are peacemakers
From all creeds and cultures
All who bring no other agenda
Than to see neighbour and stranger
Live together as one community
A: Bless the peacemakers
B: Strengthen and bless them

Bless those who are comforters
Shoulders to cry upon
Willing ears to listen
A present help in times
Of despair and hopelessness
A: Bless the comforters
B: Strengthen and bless them

Bless those who are healers
Of physical injury
And deeper hurts
Whose touch brings relief
From trauma and pain
Who brings compassion
A: Bless the healers
B: Strengthen and bless them

A Prayer

I am bending my knee
In the eye of the Father who created me,
In the eye of the Son who purchased me,
In the eye of the Spirit who cleansed me,
In friendship and affection.
Through Thine own Anointed One, O God,
Bestow upon us fullness in our need,
Love towards God,
The affection of God,
The smile of God,
The wisdom of God.
The grace of God,
The fear of God,
And the will of God
To do on the world of the Three,
As angels and saints
Do in heaven;
Each shade and light,
Each day and night,
Each time in kindness,
Give Thou us Thy Spirit.

A Prayer

I am bending my knee
In the eye of the Father who created me,
In the eye of the Son who died for me,
In the eye of the Spirit who cleansed me,
In love and desire.

Pour down upon us from heaven
The rich blessing of Thy forgiveness;
Thou who art uppermost in the City,
Be Thou patient with us.

Grant to us, Thou Saviour of Glory,
The fear of God, the love of God, and His affection,
And the will of God to do on earth at all times
As angels and saints do in heaven;
Each day and night give us Thy peace.
Each day and night give us Thy peace.

A Prayer

May I speak each day according to Thy justice
Each day may I show Thy chastening, O God;
May I speak each day according to Thy wisdom,
Each day and night may I be at peace with Thee.

Each day may I count the causes of Thy mercy,
May I each day give heed to Thy laws;
Each day may I compose to Thee a song,
May I harp each day Thy praise, O God.

May I each day give love to Thee, Jesu,
Each night may I do the same;
Each day and night, dark and light,
May I laud Thy goodness to me, O God.

A Prayer

Christ the Priest above us
Ordained of God for all living.
Christ the Priest above us.

To-night, the night of the cross of agony,
The cross of anguish to which Christ was crucified.
Christ the Priest above us.

Noble the Gift! noble the Poor!
Noble the Man of this night.
Christ the Priest above us.

It was Bride the fair who went on her knee,
It is the King of glory who is in her lap.
Christ the Priest above us.

I hear the hills, I hear the seas,
I hear the angels heralding to earth
Christ the Priest above us.

A Prayer

Be this soul on Thine arm, O Christ,
Thou King of the City of Heaven.
Amen.
Since Thou, O Christ, it was who bought’st this soul,
Be its peace on Thine own keeping.
Amen.
And may the strong Michael, high king of the angels,
Be preparing the path before this soul, O God.
Amen.
Oh! the strong Michael in peace with thee, soul,
And preparing for thee the way to the kingdom of the Son
of God.
Amen.

A Prayer

As yet my love is weak, my heart imperfect, and so I have great need of your strength and comfort. Visit me often, I pray, and instruct me in the way of your laws. Set me free from all evil passions, and heal my heart from all immoral desires. And thus, healed and cleansed in spirit, may I learn how blissful it is to plunge into the depths of your love.

Let your love dissolve my hard heart. Let your love raise me above myself. Let your love reveal to me joy beyond imagination. Let my soul exhaust itself in singing the praises of your love. Let me love you more than I love myself, and let me love myself only for your sake. And let me see your love shining in the hearts of all people, that I may love them as I love you.

A Prayer

Helper of all who turn to you,
Light of all who are in the dark,
Creator of all that grows from seed,
Promoter of all spiritual growth,
Have mercy, Lord, on me.
And make me a temple fit for you.
Do not look too closely at my sins,
For if you are quick to notice my faults
I shall not dare to appear before you.
In your great mercy.
In your boundless love,
Wash away my sins
By the hand of Jesus Christ,
Your only child, the chief healer of souls

A Prayer

Thanks be to Thee, Jesus Christ
Who brought’st me up from last night,
To the gladsome light of this day,
To win everlasting life for my soul,
Through the blood Thou didst shed for me.

Praise be to Thee, O God, for ever,
For the blessings Thou didst bestow on me -
My food, my speech, my work, my health,

And I beseech Thee
To shield me from sin,
To shield me from ill,
To sain me this night,
And I low and poor,
O God of the poor!
O Christ of the wounds !
Give me wisdom along with Thy grace.

May the Holy One claim me,
And protect me on sea and on land,
And lead me on from step to step,
To the peace of the Everlasting City,
The peace of the Everlasting City!

A Prayer

I will wash my face
In the nine rays of the sun,
As Mary washed her Son
In the rich fermented milk.

Love be in my countenance,
Benevolence in my mind,
Dew of honey in my tongue,
My breath as the incense.

Black is yonder town,
Black are those therein,
I am the white swan,
Queen above them.

I will travel in the name of God,
In likeness of deer, in likeness of horse,
In likeness of serpent, in likeness of king:
Stronger will it be with me than with all persons.

A Prayer

[O Lord Jesus Christ...] Your love covers the multitude of my sins. So when I am fully aware of my sin, when before the justice of heaven only wrath is pronounced upon me, then you are the only person to whom I can escape. If I try to cover myself against the guilt of sin and the wrath of heaven, I will be driven to madness and despair. But if I rely on you to cover my sins, I shall find peace and joy. you suffered and died on the cross to shelter us from our guilt, and take upon yourself the wrath that we deserve. Let me rest under you, and may you transform me into your likeness.

A Prayer

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
when there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand,
to be loved as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying [to ourselves] that we are born to eternal life.

A Prayer

I wish, O son of the Living God, ancient eternal King,
for a secret hut in the wilderness that it may be my dwelling.

A very blue shallow well to be beside it, a clear pool for
washing away sins through the grace of the Holy Ghost.

A beautiful wood close by all around it on every side,
for the nurture of many-voiced birds, to shelter and hide it.

Facing the south for warmth, a little stream across it’s enclosure,
a choice ground with abundant bounties, which would be good for every plant.

A few sage desciples, I will tell their number,
humble and obedient, to pray to the King

Four threes, three fours, fit for every need,
two sixes in the church, both south and north.

Six couples in addition to me myself,
praying through the long ages to the King who moves the sun.

A lovely church decked with linen, a dwelling for God of Heaven;
then, bright candles over the holy white Scriptures.

One room to go to for the care of the body, without wantoness,
without vuloptuousness, without meditation of evil.

This is the housekeeping I would undertake, I would choose it without concealing;
fragrant fresh leaks, hens, speckled salmon, bees.

My fill of clothing and of food from the King of good fame,
and for me to be sitting for a while praying to God in every place.

A Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, Who didst command us to love our enemies, and those who defame and injure us, and to pray for them and forgive them; Who Thyself didst pray for Thine enemies, who crucified thee: grant us, we pray, the spirit of Christian reconciliation and meekness, that we may heartily forgive every injury and be reconciled with our enemies. Grant us to overcome the malevolence and offences of people with Christian meekness and true love of our neighbor. We further beseech Thee, O Lord, to grant to our enemies true peace and forgiveness of sins; and do not allow them to leave this life without true faith and sincere conversion. And help us repay evil with goodness, and to remain safe from the temptations of the devil and from all the perils which threaten us, in the form of visible and invisible enemies. Amen.

A Prayer

In name of the Lord Jesus
And of the Spirit of healing balm,
In name of the Father of Israel,
I lay me down to rest.

If there be evil threat or quirk,
Or covert act intent on me,
God free me and encompass me,
And drive from me mine enemy.

In name of the Father precious,
And of the Spirit of healing balm,
In name of the Lord Jesus,
I lay me down to rest.

God, help me and encompass me,
From this hour till the hour of my death.

A Prayer

O Lamb of God, who takest away the sin of the world, look upon us and have mercy upon us;
thou who art thyself both victim and Priest, thyself both Reward and Redeemer,
keep safe from all evil those whom thou hast redeemed,
O Savior of the world.

A Prayer

I am bending my knee
In the eye of the Father who created me,
In the eye of the Son who died for me,
In the eye of the Spirit who cleansed me,
In love and desire.

Pour down upon us from heaven
The rich blessing of Thy forgiveness;
Thou who art uppermost in the City,
Be Thou patient with us.

Grant to us, Thou Saviour of Glory,
The fear of God, the love of God, and His affection,
And the will of God to do on earth at all times
As angels and saints do in heaven;
Each day and night give us Thy peace.
Each day and night give us Thy peace
