Here’s the solution to last weeks Kakuro.

This week’s puzzle has some really good aspects to it. It’s almost a great puzzle. It just comes up a little short in some areas. Oh well, I’m getting better.

Kakuro #1

Last week’s answer key can be found here.

I decided to switch it up a little this week and made a Kakuro (Cross-Sum). Kakuro puzzles resemble crosswords which use numbers instead of words. The aim of the game is to fill all the blank squares in the grid with only the numbers 1-9 so that the numbers you enter add up to the corresponding clues and the same number is not repeated in any one answer. When the grid is filled, the puzzle is complete.

Well…I’m getting better at this. The solution to last weeks puzzle can be found here. Since I made the puzzle below, I actually looked at the rules for crossword puzzle making. An Imperfect Attempt at a Crossword Puzzle

This last week I was listening to a podcast about writing crosswords. I thought, how hard can that be? So I sat down and wrote a crossword; it’s harder then you would think.

This first attempt is far from perfect. There are too many forced answers, and the grid is not quite right. But, overall, I am happy with it as a first effort.
