Exodus 23 – Blood and worship

I’m glad that worship today involves less blood splatter. Part of Israel’s worship of God was to take the blood of many young bulls, with half of the blood sprinkle the alter, and with the other half sprinkle the people. If we still had to do that I would not be excited about going to church. Although I imagine having the actual blood splattered on me would make me very aware of both the experience of forgiveness and the means by which salvation was achieved: the death of Jesus Christ.
