Upon their father’s death Joseph’s brothers fear that Joseph will seek some kind of retribution against them. To keep this from happening they fabricate a story that their father’s dying wish was for Joseph to forgive them. Joseph responds by saying, “Do not be afraid, for am I in God’s place? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive. So therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.”
In the same way neither are we to hold a grudge. We need to allow God to use whatever situation we find ourselves in. If we are constantly seeking God’s will and leading, then the past actions of others are not as important as our own future actions.
