HAMLET:
To be, or not to be–that is the question:
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
And by opposing end them. To die, to sleep–
No more–and by a sleep to say we end
The heartache, and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to. ‘Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To die, to sleep–
To sleep–perchance to dream: ay, there’s the rub,
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause. There’s the respect
That makes calamity of so long life.

“Noah did everything just as God commanded him.”
The obedience of Noah stands in sharp contrast to the disobedience of Adam and Eve a few chapters before. Noah was completely obedient in following God’s commands. This is not to say Noah led a perfect life; a few chapters after the flood Noah is revealed to have many flaws, but in this time and at this place he was able to obey God. I won’t belabor the point that God’s commands were difficult to believe. Noah was building a huge boat because God was going to flood the world; that’s hard to believe. But Noah was obedient.
When God speaks to us in a still small voice we need to listen and be obedient. We need to stop doubting and follow God’s commands with conviction. Sometime God will call us to do something that makes as little sense as building a boat the size of 2 football fields; but when God calls us to do that we need to be faithful.
